Volunteer Opportunities at MUW
Thank you to our 300+ volunteers at Monadnock United Way who help make this important work possible. You are making a real difference in our community!
Ready to become a hand-raiser and a game-changer? Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and make a difference in our community? There are many places and causes that need your help. Read below about the different opportunities to get involved with MUW, its partner agencies and other nonprofits in the region.
We invite individuals and groups of all ages to volunteer. Whether you have an hour, an afternoon or lots of time to offer, we can connect you with quality experiences that improve lives.
Day of Caring
Day of Caring is an exciting day of volunteerism across the Monadnock region. It promotes the spirit and value of volunteerism and demonstrates what we can accomplish when we LIVE UNITED.
We invite volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to take part in one of the many opportunities that will be organized on September 28. We also invite organizations and business groups to participate.
Projects will include serving individuals, families and nonprofit agencies in need across the Monadnock region. From painting and cleaning to gardening and wood-stacking, there’s a project for everyone. Last year, nearly 60 volunteers were matched with 13 nonprofit organizations. To participate in Day of Caring activities, contact Kate Cote at 603-352-4209 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Day of Action
Monadnock United Way will hold its first Day of Action this year on June 22. The event follows the same model as the Day of Caring, matching volunteers with projects at local nonprofits during a half day of service.
To participate in the event, contact Kate Cote at 603-352-4209 or email@example.com.
There are numerous opportunities to volunteer in a workplace campaign.
At the heart of MUW’s workplace campaigns are Loaned Employees, volunteer employees who are “loaned” from their workplace to help other companies run their fundraisers. Loaned Employees commit to about 10-15 hours a week during the peak of the campaign, which runs from August to December.
The investment process refers to how the money raised in the annual fundraising campaign is awarded to MUW’s nonprofit partner agencies. The process is driven by a dedicated team of volunteers from the Monadnock region. Training is provided to all volunteers in this process.
These volunteers form teams that each review proposals from the programs that MUW funds. In addition, each team visits the programs they have reviewed to have in-depth discussions about collaboration, budgets, need, strengths, concerns, results and other questions that emerge during the proposal review process.
This dedicated group of volunteers challenges each program’s effectiveness at providing services, the impact of the service, and the agency’s need for United Way financial support. Each team member commits time over the course of several weeks to deliver investment recommendations that meet the needs of our community.
To learn more about the process and how to get involved, contact Liz LaRose at 603-352-4209 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have an interest in working on early childhood initiatives, contact MUW to ask about volunteer opportunities with Impact Monadnock. Call 603-352-4209 or email IM@muw.org.
Volunteering at local nonprofits
Monadnock United Way has partnered with Monadnock RSVP Center for its “boots-on-the-ground” community-based volunteering. Monadnock RSVP pairs individuals with volunteer opportunities at nonprofits throughout the region.
Opportunities range from volunteering at America Reads, a school reading program, to serving meals at The Community Kitchen.
