Cheshire County Emergency Housing Collaborative

Everyone deserves access to a safe, stable home. Yet in major cities across the world and in the Monadnock Region, homelessness, housing insecurity, and limited affordable housing has reached crisis proportions. MUW is helping people connect with short-term shelter as
well as providing services for people to overcome the barriers that can get in the way of long-term stable housing and providing comprehensive support and resources to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness through investment in the Cheshire County Emergency Housing Collaborative.

The Collaborative was founded in 2019 with three goals:

  • To provide emergency shelter services to those who are experiencing a homeless crisis
  • To provide educational opportunities like financial literacy, resume writing. and interview skills
  • To increase clients' financial stability by accessing available federal, state and local housing resources

The Collaborative includes the following organizations:

  • Southwestern Community Services
  • Hundred Nights
  • Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention

In 2023, the collaborative: 

  • Served 412 people in 16 towns in 2023
  • Provided 31,236 bed-nights to 412 neighbors facing a housing crisis
  • 58% of clients participated in self-improvement and educational opportunities
