SCS welcomes new intern, schedules Homeless Coalition meetings

Southwestern Community Services' Housing Stabilization Services welcomes Andrea Perkins as their Work Experience Program intern. Andrea will begin classes at River Valley Community College Aug. 26, working toward a degree in human services. Andrea wants to work with teens and young adults dealing with addiction issues. 
 
SCS Housing Stabilization Services also has summer meetings scheduled for the Greater Keene Homeless Coalition. Meeting dates are July 25, Aug. 22 and Sept. 19. All meetings will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Railroad Square Conference Room at 49 Community Way. For more information, contact Lori Hathaway at 603-719-4226 or Lhathaway@scshelps.org.

The Samaritans to host car show Aug. 17

The Samaritans will host a car show on the Winchester Street Lot at Keene State College from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Spectator admission and parking is free. Cost to display one vehicle is $10. To register a vehicle or sponsor the event, call 603-357-5510 or email director@samaritansnh.org by Aug. 1. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 18. 

SCS has office space for rent

Southwestern Community Services has a 530-square-foot office space available in their Keene building, located at 63 Community Way. Rent is $18 per square foot. The room is in a secure building, contains a large window and is within short walking distance to downtown. Some furnishings may be available. Numerous program offerings at The River Center this summer

The River Center: A Family and Community Resource Center, which provides community connections, parenting support, tax assistance and money coaching to strengthen individuals and families in the Eastern Monadnock Region, is offering several programs this summer. Among them is the Families, Forests & Farms summer program, which includes blueberry picking, visiting with ponies and camping fun on Thursdays from 9:30-11:30AM. Families with school-aged kids are welcome. Register at www.rivercenter.us. 
 
Free money coaching is available on Wednesdays during drop-in hours from 12:30 to 2 p.m. If you need help working towards a financial goal, figuring out where your money is going, or maybe you have debt that you need to tackle, call  603-924-6800 for more information.
 
The Tidy Trims event is on Monday, August 26. Area stylists will offer free haircuts for school-aged children to give them a fresh start to a new school year! Check www.rivercenter.us in August for more information.
