Monadnock United Way Announces New Board Members and Officers

Keene, NH – Katie Sutherland of kcs ARCHITECTS, Michelle Bourassa, Human Resources Consultant with The Main Street America Group, Alex Kapiloff, Vice President of Kapiloff Insurance Agency, and Amy Matthews, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services at Cheshire Medical Center- Dartmouth Hitchcock in Keene recently joined the Monadnock United Way Board of Directors.

“We are excited to have these four community leaders join the board of Monadnock United Way,” said Ben Wheeler, MUW Board Chair. “They each have an impressive record of service and dedication to ensuring that our region remains strong and vibrant for everyone.”

Sutherland holds a Master of Architecture from Yale University (1999) and a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College (1993).  She founded her practice in Keene in 2015 after working extensively in New York City, Amsterdam, and Osaka. Sutherland also serves on the Board of Directors of the Building Board of Appeals, the Housing Standards Board of Appeals, and the Keene Downtown Housing Corporation. As a teen, she volunteered at a summer camp for health-compromised in Eastern Kentucky. Her interest in children’s welfare now translates into some of her architectural work, having been involved with local buildings such as Sophia’s Hearth Family Center, Keene Orthodontics Specialists and MoCo Arts.

Bourassa received her MS in Management from Antioch University New England and is also a nationally and internationally credentialed professional coach. She specializes in coaching and training, relationship management, and education coordination. She is committed to our community and knows the value of creating sustainable change while fully engaging those involved.

Kapiloff is a Keene native and received his B.A. from The University of Maine. He’s earned a Certificate of Entrepreneurship from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program and has also earned several designations in the field of insurance/finance. He is currently working on earning the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations. Kapiloff has been a volunteer with the Monadnock United Way since 2016 participating in both fundraising and investment team activities.

Matthews is the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services at Cheshire Medical Center- Dartmouth Hitchcock in Keene. She has been a Registered Nurse for 35 years and joined the Cheshire staff in the fall of 2000. She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Fairfield University, and Master of Science in Nursing Education from Excelsior College. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.  Matthews also serves on the New Hampshire Nurses Association board as treasurer and is active in the American Organization of Nurse Leaders.

MUW also welcomed several new board officers during its recent annual meeting. Ben Wheeler, Senior Vice President/Commercial Banking at NBT Bank, was elected Chair, Barbara Tremblay, First Vice Chair, Ken Jue, Second Vice Chair, Elizabeth Coppola from The Richards Group, Secretary, Ed Guyot from John Burk Associates, Treasurer.
