The Pyramid Model Leadership Team is working to improve the quality of early childhood programs in our region by building the infrastructure necessary for sustainability of the Pyramid Model. This systems-building work also includes connecting early educators with the coaching and professional development they need to promote social-emotional competence in young children.
In 2018, the Impact Monadnock-led team was among five across the state to be selected for a multi-year, federally funded award that will help the group to implement the Pyramid Model in our community. This model is a professional development system that assists early childhood programs in supporting the social and emotional development of all youing children, including those with challenging behavior. The Pyramid Model approaches are considered positive behavior intervention methods. The model is designed for teachers, caregivers and other professionals who work with young children and their families. The project is backed by the special education departments of both the U.S. Department of Education and the New Hampshire Department of Education.
The Leadership Team has selected Keene Day Care Center as its first implementation site and is currently working to identify additional potential impelmentation sites. Over the course of the project, the team will develop plans to support infrastructure development, data collection and analysis and the sustainability of Pyramid Model practices.
