Eli moved to Keene 1989 and has made Keene his adopted home with his wife, Jen. They are empty nesters, and their children have moved on to pursue their careers in NYC and Menlo Park, CA.
Eli has a Bachelors of Science from Franklin Pierce and is currently pursuing a Masters in Forensic Psychology at Walden University. He is a retired Keene Police Lieutenant, and was the recipient of the Keene Police Chief’s Commendation and the NH Congressional Police Commendation. After retiring, Eli was first elected as Sheriff of Cheshire County in 2012 and is currently serving his fourth term. He has served as a volunteer in the community for many years, including with the following programs and organizations: Project Graduation, Keene Kiwanis, Keene Community Kitchen, and the Special Olympics. He is the Deputy Tri-State Administrator (ME, NH, VT) for Team Rubicon, a volunteer national disaster response organization.
Aside from his law enforcement career, Eli served as a Commissioner for the NH Department of Education – Higher Education Commission and the Keene School Board. In 2017, he was appointed by Governor Sununu to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusion.
On his off time, Eli enjoys reading, volunteering, gardening, traveling, beekeeping and whatever else comes his way.
