Meet The Chair
Pictured here is the General Campaign Chair for the 2009-2010 Monadnock United Way campaign - Allen Mendelson. You’ll see from what follows that we’re in very capable hands…
Allen has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Missouri and a Masters Degree from Antioch New England Graduate School.
To say he has been a key community player for the 35 years since moving to and working in the Monadnock Region is an understatement…
At a professional level our non-profit community immediately benefited when Allen arrived - first to fill the position as a Field Coordinator for the RSVP Program and then moving on as Director and co-founder of Monadnock Volunteer Center.
He has also held the following volunteer roles in our community over the years:
- Keene Montessori School – Director
- Hospice of the Monadnock Region – Director
- Monadnock Children’s Museum – Board President
- Keene Elm City Rotary Club – long time member and past President
- Greater Keene Chamber of Commerce – Director
- Cedarcrest Center for Children with Disabilities – Investment Committee Member
- Monadnock Family Services – 100th Birthday Planning Committee
- “Doer’s Profile” and “Good Neighbor” columns – Co-creator
Monadnock United Way became a passion of Allen’s early on. Here are ways in which he has helped us throughout the years:
- Campaign Communications Committee - member and chair
- Allocations Committee – member and chair
- Venture Grants Committee – member and chair
- Two more years on Allocations
- Board of Directors (2 terms) – member and chair
- Longtime FEMA Chair
Today Allen manages the Edward Jones office on West Street in Keene.
