MONADNOCK UNITED WAY ANNOUNCES
2008 - 2009 CAMPAIGN GOAL AND THEME
The Monadnock United Way announced the goal for its upcoming 2008 - 2009 campaign at a gathering of campaign volunteers and agency representatives held at the HCS offices this morning. The target for the fall campaign will be $2,304,982, announced by General Campaign Chair Jeff Miller. Miller also unveiled the new campaign theme: Blaze a Trail. The theme focuses on the local tradition of neighbor helping neighbor, and the importance of community commitment in helping those in need find their way through the unfamiliar territory of personal, family or community crises. Campaign posters and brochures will have an antique western look. The general campaign will kick off Tuesday, September 9.
The Monadnock United Way Board of Directors approved the $2,304,982 goal, following the recommendations of the Allocations Committee. The allocations process requires programs seeking funding to submit documentation supporting their request, describing the need and nature of the services provided, demonstrating how funds have been used in the past and explaining how their current request will be used. These proposals are reviewed by the volunteers on the Allocations Committee, who form subcommittees and concentrate on specific agencies – meeting with representatives, visiting the agencies, and then making a funding recommendation. The full committee reviews these recommendations, hears a final presentation from each agency, and then votes on the allocations proposal to be submitted to the Board of Directors. Campaign donations will help support the work of approximately 50 agencies and programs throughout the Monadnock Region.
